English Professor Alison Bergeron is not having a very good day. Her car has been stolen so she has to walk to the train station to get to her office at St. Thomas, a college in the Bronx, New York. When she arrived she finds two homicide detectives waiting for her. The good news is that they found her car; the bad news is that in the trunk was the body of one of the students in her Shakespeare seminar. Trying to get her name off of the handsome Detective Crawford’s suspect list turns out to be just one of her problems. Alison has to bail her ex out of jail; deal with the victim’s distraught parents, classmates of hers when she was a student at St. Thomas; and grade those Shakespeare exams, which seem to be getting a lot of attention for a boring old stack of reports. And in the meantime, who would want to kill college student Kathy Miceli?

Murder 101 was really nice. With the first-person narrative of Alison, Barbieri has created a very authentic and fun. The novel mixes crazy, daily action, and even a little ‘romance to create a story. The chemistry between Alison and Detective Bobby Crawford borders actually tangible, it is so well written.
I’ve lost count of the number of times he had tears streaming down his face!
He is a hero with a down to earth nice. Bravo, Ms. Barbieri.
Praise aside, it was not until a hundred pages into the story that I really made a commitment to join the series in its future payments. Murder 101 is one of those novels that are better with the plot grows it moves along. Barbieri narration and dialogue are witty and engaging way to keep the reader’s attention and keep them laughing.
The protagonist is a professor in a college girl Joyce New York who finds himself involved in a murder when his old Volvo is used as a landfill for the body. The characters and settings ring true and are fun.
it is strange not to hate the main character is a surprise?
I LOVE this series. I look forward to physical education that will be released this month. In fact, I pre-ordered this set as soon as I see it to Barnes and Noble for my Nook. Alison is so funny, the relationship is great, and the mystery are very good. All around solid 5 for each book in the series, and it does not happen often!
