Betrayal is Pinter’s latest full-length play since the enormous success of No Man’s Land . The play begins in 1977, with a meeting between adulterous lovers, Emma and Jerry, two years after their affair has ended. During the nine scenes of the play, we move back in time, through the states of their affair, with the play ending in the house of Emma and Robert, her husband, who is Jerry’s best friend. The classic dramatic scenario of the love triangle is manifest in a mediation on the themes of marital infidelity, duplicity, and self-deception. Pinter writes a world that simultaneously glorifies and debases love.

Like life, the game takes place in time broken. A great read.
Technically brilliant – too cold for my taste, in the end, but whatever my admiration.
114 pages of people asking each other, what? I’m sure a good production can be mounted, but this game – the structure, themes, characters, style – will never be my cup of tea.
As with most games, I’d rather see than read. But the wealth of opportunities, among other things, this game is a beauty.
Sat 02:30 acclaimed drama of Harold Pinter’s a love story and the complex nature of deception.
Pinter a classic tale, in which you spend the entire room wondering what was betrayed in the early going – and when you know, falls like a bomb, even if the words of that betrayal remains unsaid last moments.
TREASON has only three main characters (more than one server in a scene). There are Jerry and Emma, who years before had had an affair and the husband of Emma Robert, who happens to be the best friend and business partner Jerry. Pinter ingeniously game occur in reverse chronological order, so it starts with a meeting between Jerry and Emma in 1977, years after their relationship, and ends with a shocking scene in 1968. The end gives a lot of TREASON reading that you can go back in the game and apply the secret revealed in his last moments.
Oh, and it says on the cover of his first song he wrote after becoming famous … Sweet!
After the first scene moves back in time, from the end of a case to start.
